The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School varsity boys soccer team soundly defeated Bishop Stang four goals to one on Thursday.

“We were looking forward to playing this team. It’s a very tough team to play with a very good coach,” Vineyard coach Esteban Aranzabe said. “When we play on the Vineyard we like to win our games and show the parents and the community that we are working hard, and we are very proud of our team.”

Thursday’s performance certainly made parents proud, with a good crowd in attendance and very vocal support from fans on the sidelines.

“It’s a brand new team–we lost last year 14 seniors–so step by step, little by little we are getting better, and we expect to make the playoff,” Coach Aranzabe said.
