Chilmark Chocolates reopened on Oct. 29, and by the looks of the parking lot — New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New Jersey license plates — we still have visitors passing through.

I passed Marie Larsen, sister-in-law Betsy Larsen, and friend Janice Brown decorating Marie’s front porch at Beetlebung Corner for Halloween. I returned in the evening to experience the final effect. This is the beginning of a new tradition; just wait until next Halloween when they have finished renovating and can decorate the entire covered porch, you won’t want to miss this on your trick-or-treating route. On my way home I popped into the Yard, which was ready to rock; great costumes, from Jesse Keller dressed as a mix tape and Alison Manning a perfect Lara Croft (one of my older son’s favorite games years ago) to the whole Yard crew looking spooky fun.

It was great to see runner 18861, Chilmark’s own Sam Feldman, prepare and run in this year’s New York Marathon on Sunday — what an inspiration!

Congratulations to Chilmark Coffee, which will soon be available on the Cape and near Boston at Hyannis and Hingham Whole Foods Markets.

Now that it has just been approved that families in Aquinnah, Chilmark, and West Tisbury can choose between West Tisbury and Chilmark, this seems like an important meeting for parents to attend or follow. I just want to thank our friends and neighbors who have reached out offering a hand and kind wishes. My husband continues to feel better daily after his mitral valve repair, and is thankful that Dr. Tim Guiney resides here, making for the smoothest medical experience in caring hands possible.
