To the Editor:
I would like to thank and commend the Rev. Cathlin Baker for her generosity, foresight, and wisdom in hosting reflections on “Ladauto Si´ — On Care for Our Common Home,” the recent encyclical from Pope Francis in which he addresses the environment, describing perils and possible remedies.
The group met at the West Tisbury Congregational Church on four consecutive Thursday mornings. Though written in a very accessible manner, the document was thorough, touching on every aspect of the vast issue. The Rev. Baker was a gracious guide through the myriad aspects of the topic, adding poetry and other materials to enhance the discussion. Her thoughtfulness and wise guidance, and the energetic engagement of the multifaith audience were a display of ecumenism at its best. Thank you, Rev. Baker, for taking the initiative.
