Caitlyn Coogan Reynal, who graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 2002, has been named Teacher of the Year at the Bensley Elementary School in Richmond, Va.
Ms. Reynal, who is the daughter of Greg and Sharon Coogan of Oak Bluffs, received undergraduate and graduate degrees from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., and for the past nine years has taught students with disabilities in kindergarten through grade two.
In a press release, Ms. Reynal said of her job, “What I most love about teaching is getting the opportunity to find ways that the curriculum and skills we teach are accessible to all students, disabled or not.”
