Each season, Jim’s Package Store on Lake Avenue in Oak Bluffs sells Christmas trees to benefit an Island family or individual. This month, 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of trees will be donated to the family of Jim Moore of Vineyard Haven, co-owner Mike Wallace said.
“Jim has been battling brain cancer for over seven years now,” Mr. Wallace said in an email to The Times. “In addition to the financial hardships of battling cancer, the Moore family also suffered a house fire in October. They were not only displaced from their home but also lost both of their cars in the fire. Fortunately, although he, his wife, and three children were all home at the time, no one was hurt.”
