Island Gymnastics Training School holds “Good Luck” meet

Island Gymnastics Training School held its first home meet of the season on Saturday. The “Good Luck” meet, so named for St. Patrick’s Day, featured four squads of gymnasts divided according to their level. The teams were coached by Beth Goodell and Nora Fuson.

The first-place finishers in each squad were: Pedro Alves (boys Leprechauns), Grace Voshell (Rainbows), Sara Goodale (Four Leaf Clovers), Molly Crawford (Junior Pot o’ Gold) and Rose Herman (Senior Pot o’ Gold). The meet results follow.

Leprechauns: Eli Aronie placed third on high bar with a 7.6; Gabriel Slossberg placed first on vault with an 8.4; August Warner placed first on high bar with a 9.0, and second overall with a 48.65. Pedro Alves placed first on four out of the six boys events, with his highest score on the p bars, 9.0, and first all-around with a 52.3. The team finished fourth.

Rainbows: Eleanora Duncheva tied for second place on bars with 7.6. Stela Duncheva placed fourth on vault with an 8.45. Eirene “Pickle” Eville placed first on beam with 8.9, and third all-around with 33.05. Gabrielle Guimaraes placed second on three out of four events, with her highest scores on beam and vault, both 8.7, and second all-around with 33.35. Grace Voshell placed first on vault, beam and floor;, her highest score came on bars, 9.0, and she was first in all-around with 35.15. The team placed third.

Four Leaf Clovers: Maeve Cook Martin was first on vault with 9.0, and fourth in all-around with 34.0. Elizabeth Carbon was second on bars, with 8.85, and third in all-around with 34.6. Amy Maeda placed first on bars with 8.9, and second in all-around with 34.9. Sara Goodale was first on beam and floor with 9.0s, and first in all-around with 35.35. The team placed second.

Pot o’ Gold team (juniors and seniors): For the junior Golds, Arianna Edelman placed first on floor with a 9.1, second on vault with 8.4, and third in all-around with 34.1. Emily Boyd placed first on vault with 8.6, second on bars and beam with 9.1 and 8.3 respectively, and second in all-around with 34.3. Molly Crawford placed first on beam and bars with 9.2 and 9.5 respectively, second on floor with 8.85, and first in all-around with 35.85.

For the senior Golds, Alexa Schroeder placed second on bars and floor with 8.6 and 8.9, and tied for second all-around with 34.6. Michaela Benefit placed second on vault and beam with 8.6 and 9.0, and tied for second all-around with 34.6. Rose Herman placed first on all four events: vault 9.5, bars 9.3, beam 9.4, and floor 9.25. She was first all-around with 37.45.

The Pot o’ Gold team placed first.
