I hope everyone got to see the West Tisbury School’s production of the musical “Shrek Jr.” this past weekend. It was wonderful. All the students in it did such a wonderful job, and the songs were a lot of fun. Fynn Monahan played three parts, my favorite of which was the Gingerbread Man. I went to the show with Fynn’s mom Anja, Spa Tharpe, Jim Wallen, and Juli Vanderhoop. We met at Anja’s for appetizers beforehand, and then drove down together. We saw many more people from Aquinnah in the audience. The show was a little over an hour, with no intermission, but it was so funny the time flew by. Well done, West Tisbury students and staff.

The board of health would like to remind people to make sure your lawn fertilizer is in compliance with the new regulations. It matters because lawn fertilizers are one of the contributors to our Island’s ponds’ bad report card. If you apply fertilizer yourself, you can find the regulations for each town by going to the Martha’s Vineyard Boards of Health’s website at mvboh.org. Once there, click on lawn fertilizer initiative and choose your town. If you use a landscaping service, they are required to have taken the fertilizer course and obtained a license to apply from the town they do business in.
Just a reminder that the next town meeting will be May 10. Come out, and let’s get our business done.
Sarah Saltonstall just returned from Tucson, Ariz., where she spent a week visiting her brother. She helped him with his job at Humane Borders, swam in the pool, and enjoyed the 80° weather. She then returned home to a snowstorm.
Congratulations to Emerson Mahoney, who was accepted to Dartmouth and will be starting his freshman year there in the fall. His family is beside themselves with happiness for him. Happy birthday to Lexie Roth, who celebrates today! Happy birthday to poet Carole Vandal, who celebrates on Saturday.
