Seven MV United travel teams took to the pitch this past weekend. Three teams played on their home pitch at Veterans Field in Vineyard Haven, while the other four hit the road. Teams have this weekend off for school vacation. All eight teams will return to the pitch April 23 and 24. Also, the MV United recreational season begins on Monday, April 25. More than 250 kids are ready to take to the pitch at the West Tisbury School.

MV United U11 girls beat Norton 4-2

The MV United U11 girls won their season home opener against Norton. Wadeline Hall, Paige Malowski (2), and Clare Mone scored. The girls next play April 23 when they hit the road to take on Oceana.

MV United U14 boys beat Seekonk 4-0

On Saturday, the U14 boys traveled to Seekonk for their second contest of the season. The boys wasted no time taking control of the game, and finished up with a win. Emanuel Silva, Joshua Sampaio (2), and Adam Knight scored. The boys look forward to their home opener on Saturday, April 23, against Dartmouth at Veterans Field at 2:45 pm.

MV United U13 boys tie with Dartmouth 1-1

Sometimes the final score of a game doesn’t reflect how a team plays on the field. The U13 boys played a well-balanced game, putting great pressure on the Dartmouth keeper, but finished with a 1-1 draw. Dartmouth scored a goal early in the game, and fought to keep that lead going into the half. The Vineyard came out and continued to put pressure on Dartmouth. After hitting the crossbar a few times, they pulled the score even, scoring with only three minutes left in the game. Simon Desouza scored the sole goal. Next up, the U13 boys travel to Fall River on April 23 for a 2:15 pm kickoff.

MV United U18 boys beat Freetown-Lakeville 1-0

The MV United U18 boys traveled to Freetown-Lakeville (team 2) Sunday morning for their second game of the season. After dominating most of the game, the one and only goal came with 5 minutes left, scored by Silas Berlin. The boys play Freetown Lakeville (team 1) on Sunday, April 24, at 4:30 pm.

MV United U18 girls beat Falmouth 2-1

Wearing number 10 to show support for a teammate injured in a car accident last week, the U18 girls beat Falmouth Sunday 2-1. Meghan Sawyer stepped in to fill the goalkeeper position, and goals were scored by Adelaide Keene and Evelyn Medeiros.

MV United U14 girls lost to Yarmouth Dennis 0-2, and MV United U10 boys beat Freetown Lakeville 9-3.
