Martha’s Vineyard fishermen began cleaning reels and sorting tackle following the long-awaited news that striped bass had arrived in Island waters.

Fishermen reported catching small schoolies, the vanguard of bigger fish that will soon follow, along the south shore from Quansoo to Wasque Point.

Fishermen are reminded that a saltwater fishing license is required to fish in state waters, and that the recreational striper limit is one fish a minimum of 28 inches in length.
