Eight gymnasts from Island Gymnastics Training School competed in the Massachusetts State Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough.
For xcel silver, Emily Boyd’s top score was 8.6 on bars. Alexa Schroeder placed fifth on vault with 8.7. Arianna Edelman placed fourth on beam and fourth on floor with 9.15 on both events. Molly Crawford placed fourth on vault with 8.9, third on beam and third on floor with 9.2 on both events, and won an All Around fifth-place trophy.
For xcel gold, Nora Fuson’s top score was 8.75 on vault. Rose Herman’s top score was 9.0 floor. Taybor Estrella placed fourth on vault with 9.05, and Michaela Benefit placed sixth on vault with 8.9.
The gymnasts were coached by Beth Goodell.
Up next for Island Gymnasts are States for the xcel bronze team, May 14 in Fitchburg, and an exhibition for all teams and rec classes on June 9 at Island Gymnastics in West Tisbury.
