Hokule’a, a replica of an ancient Polynesian double-hulled sailing canoe, is visiting Martha’s Vineyard this week on the 19th leg of her three-year Malama Honua (translation: “caring for our earth”) Worldwide Voyage. The vessel’s visit to the Island include demonstrations, interactive exhibits, and sacred ceremonies between Hokule’a’s Hawaiian crew and the Aquinnah Wampanoag tribe. Hokule’a will be docked at Tisbury Wharf until the morning of July 1, when it will depart for Woods Hole.
