Not all competitors are heading for the Olympics. On Sunday, August 7, many of Martha’s Vineyard’s best Ping-Pong players will be gathering on Chappaquiddick for the ninth annual all-Island Chappypong table tennis tournament, sponsored by the Chappaquiddick Community Center and Martha’s Vineyard Table Tennis Club (MVTTC).

The event is open to players of all ages and skill levels. No fees are charged for entrants, and prizes will be awarded to winners.

Registration at the Community Center begins at 10 am, with play to start at 11 am. The competition is organized in a round-robin format, with all entrants guaranteed at least three matches, according to a press release.

Playing equipment, tables, and scoring management will be provided by MVTTC members.

Community Center tables and paddles are available daily outside on the East Porch for players who want to practice for the tournament.
