The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks announced Thursday that former player Tad Gold will return to the team as assistant general manager. “We are thrilled to have Tad join our management team,” team president Kyle Fiore said. “He’s a symbol of success on the Vineyard as a baseball player and as a person. He’s a hero to many Island youth, and well-respected throughout the community.”

Mr. Gold is a 2010 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, and played outfield for three years for the Sharks.

“Tad brings tremendous credibility to the Sharks,” Mr. Fiore said. ‘He’s an MVRHS graduate, National Division 3 player of the year, and first Team All American; played three seasons as a Shark, and was a member of the 2013 championship team; two-time Futures League All Star; a Baltimore Orioles draft pick; and a three-year player in their minor league system. He understands the game, knows many of our alumni, and also understands the Sharks and the team’s role in the Martha’s Vineyard community.”

“It’s an honor to be asked to join the Sharks organization,” Mr. Gold said. “The team has done so much for the community, and I’m confident I can bring new ideas that will benefit both the team and the community. I’m ready to hit the ground running and make 2017 a great year, on and off the field.”
