The Martha’s Vineyard High School girls and boys swim teams completed their dual-meet season on Tuesday against Eastern Athletic Conference champion Bishop Feehan. The boys lost 94-24, while the girls lost 95-30. The girls completed their season with a 3-10 record, the most wins in one season for any Vineyard swim. The boys finished 1-12.

For the boys, co-captain Harrison Dorr fell just short of his quest to qualify for the state meet in the 100 freestyle. After going his personal best of 53.00 to finish first in the individual event, he swam another personal best of 52.84 leading off the 400 freestyle relay. Although it was the second-best time any Vineyarder has ever achieved, it was 0.63 seconds off the state qualifying time.

Feehan set three pool records during the meet; Katie Cashin in the girls 100 butterfly (1:03.45), Tim McDonald in the boys 500 freestyle (5:01.62), and Ryan Reidemeister in the boys 100 backstroke (58.69).

The meet was the last for five Vineyard seniors: co-captains Lucy Thompson, Ellie Hanjian, Paulo Pereira, Alexander Lytle, and Cody Metell.

The season is not over for three Vineyarders who previously qualified for the sectional and state meets. Co-captain Lia Potter will join Harrison and Renee at MIT this weekend (for the South/Central sectionals) and at Boston University (for the Division 2 state championships) next weekend.
