Ann Crook, Martha’s Vineyard Airport manager, was elected to the national board of the American Association of Airport Executives, one of the largest professional organizations representing people who work at public-use commercial and general aviation airports, according to a press release from the association

Ms. Crook told The Times on Monday that the board sets policy, approves the organization’s budget, and charts its overall direction. Also, because the board sets policies in relation to federal policies — like Federal Aviation Association rule changes, or changes in the Department of Homeland Security — Martha’s Vineyard benefits from her participation as a board member, she said.

“Now I’ll have a seat at the table, making sure that the impacts to us will be heard and recognized through the national organization,” Ms. Crook said.

This will be Ms. Crook’s second time serving on the board, and members serve a two-year term. Ms. Crook served from 2013 to 2015, and now from 2017 to 2019. She was nominated by her peers in the Northeast Chapter of American Association of Airport Executives this term.

She is required to attend four board meetings over the year at conferences in different locations throughout the country. Members also participate through conference calls and email.
