Island Elderly Housing (IEH) will host its annual Art Show and Sale/Silent Auction on Saturday, Sept. 22, with a bit of a difference this year. This time around, professional artists have joined in with Elderly Housing resident artists in donating work for the sale.
Among those who will be offering work in a variety of media are Gwen Nichols, wampum and sea glass jewelry; pottery by William O’Callahan; photos by Michael Blanchard; watercolors by Linda Zeigler; and beaded jewelry by Marie Allen.
As always, a number of residents have contributed to the fundraising sale — offering paintings, photography, and more. A wonderful handmade birdhouse embellished with beach finds by the late Bill Merry will also be for sale.
Money raised will help support IEH’s two quality-of-life programs. The transportation program provides for a van to run three mornings a week, offering door-to-door service for residents to doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, and other errands. The dinner program provides a weekly community dinner for all IEH residents.
The art sale is the primary fundraiser for the quality-of-life programs, which are only supported by donations and grants.
IEH Art Show and Sale/Silent Auction, Saturday, Sept. 22, from noon to 6 pm at Woodside Village, 60B Village Road, Oak Bluffs.
