A time to share, heal

To the Editor:
Thank you all who visited the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center last Friday night for a Solidarity Shabbat led by Rabbi Caryn Broitman.
We welcomed our congregants, clergy, community leaders, and members of so many of the churches and organizations on the Island.
You were all there to comfort us as you shared in our grief over the horrible shootings at the Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh. It was magical as kind words and emotionally stirring music filled our sanctuary.
While Tree of Life Congregation may be miles away, with congregants we do not know, we grieve. Jews are well aware that what happens to Jews anywhere happens to us as well. We are so grateful to you for coming to offer love and support.
The beauty of this Island is not only in its magnificent offerings of nature but in the magnificent offerings of caring people as well.
Shalom.

Bonnie George, president
Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center

  1. Unlike Massachusetts, Pennsylvania has the death penalty. The victims of the Boston bomber got the death penalty, while the creep continues.
