A small fire on Edgartown–Vineyard Haven Road and Teaberry Lane Friday melted part of a fence.

No one was hurt. Edgartown Police and Fire were on the scene to put it out.

The fire was first reported by a water department employee who was driving by. Edgartown Fire Chief Alex Schaeffer told The Times that the fire was contained and put out due to the quick action of water department officials, who were driving by and saw the fire.

The fire was in three separate spots alongside the road, no more than two feet wide. Fire melted a PVC fence that is along the road.

Chief Schaeffer said the fire department is unsure how the fire started.
