Edgartown selectmen are on the hunt for a new town clerk and highway superintendent.

Longtime town clerk Wanda Williams will be leaving her position.

Williams told The Times she has been working in the town clerk’s office for 31 years. She started first as an assistant, and has been town clerk for more than 20 years.

The town clerk is in charge of department administration, local elections, town meetings, and access to public information. Applications for town clerk will close on Nov. 30.

Town administrator James Hagerty, human resources director Kim Lucas, and Williams will form a screening committee and select three candidates who will have public interviews in front of the selectmen.

A similar process will be held for highway superintendent, with a public works–focused screening committee. Applications for highway superintendent will close on Dec. 10.

Stuart Fuller has been the Edgartown highway superintendent for more than a decade. He is also the town’s tree warden. Hagerty said ideally the town will hire a new superintendent who will also be able to fill the tree warden position.

In addition to photos with Santa, Christmas in Edgartown has more than 100 events scheduled, including events, sales, charitable activities, and movies.

Selectmen approved a request from Edgartown harbormaster Charles Blair to increase mooring and stake fees. The old price for buying and installing stakes has come to break even. Annual mooring fees increased by $25 to $200, and the annual stake fees increased by $40 to $400.

  1. Seriously, you’re going to hire new town officers without an outside consultant or special study? Are you sure? Come on, just ask, we’ll give you some more money.
