Festive atmosphere for Christmas in Edgartown

Have you ever seen so many Santa hats? Christmas in Edgartown is bustling with people — and quite a few dogs — as the second day, in all of its festive glory, unfolded.

It was a chilly, bright winter day as the parade made its way on Main Street. The big guy waved to children along the route from a fire truck. Children took photos with Santa’s at the M.V. Photo Bus and a few whispered last-minute gift ideas ahead of the big day.

The steaming hot chowder from some of the Island’s best restaurants was served up at The Anchors making it a nice refuge from the chilly weather. The Red Stocking Fund benefitted from the proceeds. Best clam chowder was awarded to The Wharf, and best seafood chowder went to The Newes.

Cuteness filled the Nevin Square address where the Teddy Bear Suite took up shop this year.

The three days of Christmas in Edgartown wraps up Sunday with a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” at the Carnegie at 1 pm, followed by an Old Fashioned Carol Sing at the Federated Church at 2 pm.
