Attention, movie buffs. What has been called one of the finest video stores in the country is having a liquidation sale. The sale will be from 10 am to 7 pm on Friday and Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17, from 12 to 6 pm and Monday to Thursday from 10 to 2 pm. If there are still movies left, the sale will continue again on Monday, March 25. On sale will be feature films, foreign films, TV shows, and documentaries.

The store closing was announced in January.

There are 28,000 titles in all at Island Entertainment; 3,000 will be for sale. The remaining 25,000 titles will be stored by a private party and then either donated or sold at a later date. In addition to videos, movie posters and shelving will also be offered for sale.

“We had an amazing run, we stayed as long as we could,” Anne Evasick, owner of Island Entertainment, said. “Right now we’re pretty exhausted … lots of heavy lifting.” Referring to the kitschy items in the Island Entertainment front window, Evasick joked, “The big problem is what to do with all of Jamie [Alley’s] window decorations … but Elvis is coming home with me.”
