With a nor’easter bearing down on the region Friday, the Steamship Authority has issued the following travel alert:

“The National Weather Service is warning of high winds affecting our area Friday night into Saturday, with gale warnings taking effect Friday afternoon. As a result, service may be disrupted on both the Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket routes.”

Travelers are advised to refer to www.weather.gov/box and check the Steamship Authority website for further updates.

Meanwhile, the SSA issued another advisory for Sunday that’s not weather related. “The transfer bridge to Slip No. 2 in Woods Hole (the southernmost slip) will be swapped out for repairs Sunday morning starting at around 7 am,” the advisory states. “Work should be completed by 2 pm Sunday. During this time, we will have only one operational slip and, as a result, trips aboard the MV Woods Hole will be delayed.”

The following trips from Vineyard Haven will have delayed arrival times: 7:30 am, 9:50 am, and 12:20 pm.

The following trips from Woods Hole will have delayed departure times: 8:35 am, 11:05 am, and 1:35 p.m.
