Marketing students at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School are the first high school students in the country to receive the radio marketing professional certification from the Radio Advertising Bureau, according to a press release from marketing instructor Brian Jakusik.
Fifteen students from the marketing program completed an exhaustive course of study in the consultant style of selling that focuses on mastering the knowledge and skills necessary to help local business maximize their advertising success, according to the release.
Students receiving certification include Carlos Bricoli, Matheus Brito, Nicholas Cowan, Symon De Souza, Morgan Estrella, Noah Garcia, Mekhi Jones, Aiden Marek, Cody McCarron, Liam McCarthy, Joshua Pinto, Wilson Riley, Lukah Vieira, Anthony Vilaca, and Veronica Wendt.
Jakusik, a 15-year radio veteran, led the semester-long curriculum.
“MVRHS marketing strives to prepare students for job readiness in the real world and continued study of business by creating marketing plans for local businesses and in providing industry-relevant education and training,” Jakusik said in the release. “This RMP certification is an amazing leg up on the competition in the advertising industry. While I encourage the continued study of marketing at a higher level, these students are prepared to enter the workforce directly after high school should they so choose. I could not be more proud of their accomplishment.”
