Community businesses support chorus event

To the Editor:

Representing Peter Boak and the Island Community Chorus, I would like to acknowledge and thank the many people and organizations that contributed to a very successful concert weekend, as we presented, among other pieces, the brand-new commissioned cantata by Thomas LaVoy capturing the life of the Vineyard’s own Nancy Luce.

Thanks to Choral Arts New England, The Martha’s Vineyard Times, the Vineyard Gazette, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, Dan Waters (who allowed us to use his artwork in our advertising), the Federated Church of M.V. and the Rev. Sharon Eckhardt, WMVY Radio, and of course our audiences and advertisers.

After our ads and posters were printed, we received a wonderful last-minute grant from the Martha’s Vineyard Bank Charitable Fund and the Permanent Endowment of M.V. We were able to acknowledge them in our program book, but unfortunately received the news too late for their logo to appear in our advertising, and for that we apologize. This grant was extremely helpful in financing the extra costs of presenting the Martha’s Vineyard premiere of LaVoy’s beautiful music.

Again, thanks to all.
