Island gymnasts qualify for States

Island Gymnastics Training School’s Gold and Silver teams recently competed in their State District Qualifiers. The XCEL Gold gymnasts Amy Meada and Emily Boyd competed at Legends Gymnastics in North Andover on March 30.

Amy’s highest-scoring event was the beam, with a score of 9.05, and her All-Around score of 35 qualified her to move on to the State Cup in May. Emily’s strongest event was uneven bars, scoring a 8.7.

The XCEL Silver gymnasts Grace Voshell and Gabrielle Guimaraes competed at 360 Gymnastics in Shirley on April 6. Gabrielle’s highest score was in vault with an 8.6, while Grace’s strongest event was the uneven bars, with an 8.7.

Next up for Island Gymnastics will be the State meets for Bronze and Platinum gymnasts, which are coming up at the end of April and beginning of May.
