A driver was taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Friday afternoon with unspecified injuries after her Jeep crashed through a stone wall on North Road near Old Farm Road in Chilmark.

The crash happened at around 3:30 pm Friday. The stone wall is located on conservation land. Chilmark Fire Chief David Norton said it appeared the driver swerved to avoid a deer.

Tri-Town Ambulance, Chilmark Police, and the Chilmark Fire Department responded to the scene.

  1. Are people still using that old,”I swerved to avoid a deer!” excuse and the cops still believing?

    • James— are you calling the driver a liar ? Have you ever swerved to avoid a deer ? I have — but never went off the road, fortunately.
