This year, two Island ukulele groups — one meets in the evening at Featherstone Center for the Arts, and the other meets in the afternoon at the Tisbury Senior Center — come together on stage for a uke jam at the Agricultural Fair on Thursday, August 15, at 4:30 pm.
Organizers want to invite the public to bring their ukuleles along to the fair so they can join the group.
The uke enthusiast Debby Athearn says that the instrument is gaining popularity these days. “I’ve read that there’s more people who pick up a uke than any other instrument,” she said.
Grab a uke when you head to the fair, and maybe meet some fellow uke lovers.
