The Steamship Authority canceled two runs of the freight boat Governor due to mechanical issues, and delayed two later boats

M/V GOVERNOR 12:20PM Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven

M/V GOVERNOR 1:35PM Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole

The 2:50 Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven run will be delayed 30 minutes, pending repair, as will the 4:05 Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole run.

Sean Driscoll, director of communications for the SSA, said in an email to The Times that the Authority was investigating the issues with the Governor, and making up for the missed trips. “we are planning to run an extra trip with the M/V Sankaty,” he wrote, “and using a lift deck on the M/V Island Home to help alleviate some of the backup.”

  1. It sounds like the SSA is determined to break its old record of 600 and something of cancelled trips from last year.
Did Guinness Book of Records add a new category?

  2. As a frequent traveler, it was refreshing to race from up island to catch the 1:35 governor that wasn’t there.
Only to receive the SSA email notice as I was at the terminal. Timing is everything SSA….
