Head to the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday, Nov. 3, for an opening reception introducing abstract artist Sarah Moore and her Island- and ocean-inspired paintings.
Moore’s art will be displayed at the M.V. Film Center through Nov. 24, and will include a collection of paintings inspired by the shimmering blue waters surrounding Martha’s Vineyard.
“My art is inspired by the natural beauty of the Island, often seen through an abstract lens that interprets the world in unusual ways,” Moore wrote in a statement.
She notes color and movement as essential elements of her paintings. “My work is not complicated; it is created with the full force of joy in the making,” Moore wrote.
Moore holds a Bachelors of Science and a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College, studied engineering at Union College, and studied painting at the Museum of Fine Arts.
