Scorched woodland floor left by a brush fire thought to be caused by a downed wire.

Tisbury firefighters responded to a report of smoldering wires on Border Road Wednesday morning, and discovered a brush fire. Tisbury Fire Chief John Schilling said a delivery truck appears to have snagged telecommunication wires, tore them down, and somehow ignited about a half-acre of brush. The incident also seems to have had repercussions for Eversource lines.

Tisbury Police Chief Mark Saloio said officers are searching for a red flatbed truck with a forklift attached. He stressed all indications thus far are that the driver of the truck may not have been aware wires were snagged. An Eversource crew was on scene Wednesday afternoon tending to electric lines.
