The annual West Tisbury library book sale is on this year after being canceled last summer. The sale takes place Monday, July 26, through Monday, August 2, from 9 am to 2 pm. The board of the Friends of the West Tisbury Library announced recently that the 61st used book sale will look and feel new and different, but books will be sorted by familiar categories and tremendous bargains will be available, according to a press release from the library.

Sale dates have been expanded this year with Monday, July 26, through Saturday, July 31, full-price days at $10 per bag of books. On Sunday, August 1, bags will be half price, and Monday, August 2, is free day.

The sale is held in the West Tisbury School gym on Old County Road. Due to COVID considerations, masks will be required, tables will be six feet apart, and customers may have to be limited to 150 maximum in the West Tisbury School gym at once. Social distancing is recommended.

This year’s innovation is that most books will be sold by the grocery bag and not individually priced. Organizers ask that you bring your own grocery-sized bag if possible. Vineyard authors and “Best of Show” books will be priced and paid for separately. All sale proceeds benefit the West Tisbury library.

Arrangements this year were particularly challenging, the release states, and the Friends are grateful to the school administration, the board of health, the 40 volunteers and the Island book donors.
