To the Editor:

On Saturday, May 16, what felt like the first true day of summer, our community came together in support of Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living’s Dementia and Caregiver Services. We were heartened to welcome more than 100 walkers, pledgers, and supporters, and we are deeply grateful for the community spirit that made the day such a success.

We extend our sincere thanks to our corporate sponsors: Mirick, Araujo Brothers,  Donaroma’s, Hutker Architects, Bridges by Epoch, Cronig’s Market, Green Room, M.V. Insurance, Our Market and Your Market, and Tea Lane Associates/Forbes. Their support plays an important role in sustaining the vital services we provide at MCVL.

We are equally grateful to our volunteers, walkers, and pledgers, whose enthusiasm and commitment made the event so meaningful. We would also like to offer special thanks to Nomans, the Seven Hills Band and to our many friends at Seven Hills, and Vineyard Independence Partnership (VIP) for keeping the party going.

On behalf of M.V. Center for Living and our board of directors, Sandy Joyce, Martha Solinger, Beverly Wright, Chris Murphy, Larry Gomez, David Fielder, Barbara Reynolds, and Martina Thornton — thank you for standing with us.

This work is about helping families remain together, and ensuring that older Island residents living with cognitive changes can age in place, remain connected to their community, and continue doing the things they love for as long as possible.

Mary Holmes, executive director
Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living
