The Ag Hall grounds were filled with displays of the most beautiful early vegetables and flowers at the first Farmers Market of the season. Across State Road, rolls of hay dotted the field. Signs of summer.

Congratulations to the 2026 graduates of the Regional High School and the Charter School. I have great expectations for your futures and achievements, and wish you happy lives.

I invited friends over for a garden tour last week. They were complimentary about my fully-in-bloom rhododendron hedge that towered over all of us, the kousa dogwoods, and the perennial garden off the porch, where we eventually sat. It was nice to see it through the eyes of others, a reminder that things aren’t as bad as I think they are.

I especially loved showing off my new pagoda dogwood ‘Golden Shadows.’ Its green leaves are edged with a bright yellow-green variegation. I am completely enamored of this tree, and go out to look at it several times a day. It’s from Vineyard Gardens, if you’re curious.
