The cooler temperatures are creeping in more frequently, but occasionally warmer days fool us into thinking that summer is everlasting as they tease us with unexpected heat. How worrisome to see how dry everything is, as no longer is our view of the landscape one of lush green but brown dying grass and drooping perennials and leaves. We are now wishing for rain that is so badly needed.

Along with the cooler weather comes the annual migration of the spiders, whose path seems to be directly through my house. Never have I seen such a strange variety: small black ones, swinging tiny tan ones, and then the marathoners, who scurry across the floors so swiftly that they vanish out of sight before I can swat them. It makes me wonder if rumor has it that my home is a branch of Ramada Inn for spiders.
