The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls varsity tennis team defeated a strong Triton Regional High School team at home on Sunday afternoon. The north shore Triton Vikings hail from Newbury. The Vineyard won all three singles matches, and two doubles matches.
Samantha Potter defeated Grace Williams 6-2, 6-0; Kat Roberts beat Cassie McGrath 6-3, 6-0; and Lizzie Williamson swept Abby Killam 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, Charlotte Potter and Amadine Muniz won a decisive first set, 7-5, against Rachel Mahoney and Eliza Mullen, eventually winning 7-5, 6-2. Avery Hazell and Madison McBride defeated Jess Vedrani and Abby Booth, 6-0, 6-0.
