The weather has been a delightful tease, easily stretching out the swimming season happily through November, and I am eternally grateful for this delay of seasons. If you didn’t cut back some of your fall vegetables, you should still be enjoying a garden bounty, and Thanksgiving is merely two weeks away. I know many are wondering where the Food Truck is; well, it’s undergoing some repair work, and let’s keep our fingers crossed that Monday, Nov. 16, we’ll have delicious local eats in the Chilmark Store parking lot. The annual Health Fair, sponsored by the NAACP, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 am to 1 pm at the MVRHS, featuring holistic, traditional, and nontraditional health care providers; there will be organ-donation screening and data. Come hear new West Tisbury Poet Laureate Emma Young and community members who will draw numbers from a hat to read. On Thursday, Nov. 19, at 6 pm, the West Tisbury library hosts “a group of Islanders is in the very early stages of creating an open Internet network which people here can use to connect sensors and beacons for individual, organizational, and business use. This early-stage ‘Congress of Tinkerers’ will gather input, collaborators, and advisors who will review the network hardware, suggest possible use-cases and pilot tests. Come learn about and help design our open, community-led Internet of Things Network.”
