The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society will not move a town building on Old Courthouse Road in West Tisbury to the grounds of the Agricultural Hall. Such a move would be too expensive, according to Ag Society president Brian Athearn.

In February the Ag Society began weighing the idea in of acquiring the structure for use as a poultry barn. Athearn said for the cost of moving the building, the Ag Society could erect one twice as large. West Tisbury voters agreed to transfer the structure into the custody of the Affordable Housing Committee Tuesday night at town meeting. Voters also gave the Ag Society a helping hand by approving $15,000 to replace Ag Hall doors damaged in recent nor’easters.
