Police arrested a Vineyard Haven man on drug charges Tuesday after he allegedly passed out inside Tisbury Town Hall.
Adam Robinson, 38, was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, trafficking in a class A substance (heroin), possession of a class C drug, and possession of a class E drug.
Police Chief Mark Saloio said he was at town hall on other business when he was asked to check on a man who had passed out inside town hall. Saloio said he ushered Robinson, who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, outside and when attempted to put him into protective custody, Robinson allegedly attempted to flee.
At that time, officer John Goeckel arrived and helped the chief handcuff Robinson.
During a scuffle with officers, Robinson suffered minor injuries, Saolio said. Once he was handcuffed, police allegedly observed a plastic bag in Robinson’s hand. The bag contained several individual small plastic bags containing what is believed to be heroin in powder form estimated at 22 grams, along with several individually packaged prescription pills, police said.
Robinson was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Edgartown District Court.
Seems like a familiar story with that suspect.
If there is heroin being brought into our town halls can you imagine all the other more hidden places it is? Everyone needs to turn in any opiate dealer. That stuff is deadly, almost always laced with fentanyl.
