On Sept.11 at 6 pm, the Vineyard Cribbage Club met at the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs. Thirty-four players showed up to compete in the weekly tournament. Six games are played, with two points for a win, zero for a loss, and three points for a skunk — a win greater than 30 points.
The results were as follows: First was David Pothier, Oak Bluffs with a 11/5 card plus 78; second was Ray Lincoln, Vineyard Haven, with a 11/5 card plus 63; third was Beverly Robinson, Vineyard Haven, with a 11/4 card plus 100; fourth was Tricia Bergeron of Edgartown with a 10/5 plus 65 card; fifth was Bill Russell, Vineyard Haven, with a 10/5 +30 card. Honorable mentions went to Kathy Kinsman, Dan Tomczyk, and Merle Lincoln.
The group as a whole had 14 skunks, and a total of three 24-point hands.
Our next tournament will be on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the P.A. Club at 6 pm; doors open at 5;30 pm, and if you can play a game in 20 minutes or less, come by and check us out.
