Spring into learning and wellness!
Healthy Aging Martha’s Vineyard (HAMV) is welcoming spring with wonderful opportunities to learn new skills, stay active, and connect with others in the community. Whether you want to become more comfortable with technology or improve your strength and balance, these upcoming programs are designed with you in mind.
Computer Essentials: A free five-week course
HAMV has partnered with Elder Services of Cape Cod & Islands and the island’s Councils on Aging to offer a beginner-friendly computer course.
Participants will be provided with a computer to use and take home for the duration of the program, for practice between classes.
Over five weeks, participants will
- Use the basic functions of a personal computer
- Safely navigate the internet
- Organize electronic files
- Send and receive email
- Use technology to enhance everyday life
No experience required.
Dates: April 7 – May 7

A Matter of Balance: A fall prevention program
HAMV and the Island’s Councils on Aging are excited to bring back this program for spring 2026.
Are you concerned about falling, or looking to improve your balance and confidence? “A Matter of Balance” is an awardwinning program designed to help older adults reduce their fear of falling while building the strength, balance, and confidence needed to maintain an active, independent lifestyle.
In this program, you will
- Learn strategies to reduce fall risks
- Set goals to safely increase activity levels
- Make simple changes to improve safety
- Practice exercises that build strength and balance
Dates: Tuesdays, May 5 – June 23
Time: 2 to 3:30 pm
